Stringers of Edinburgh & London
Maureen Stringer-Morrison founded Stringers of Edinburgh in 1992 and opened Stringers in London in 2007.
As a professional cellist, teacher and parent of young string players, she wanted to create a centre of excellence for string players of all levels from beginner to professional in a pleasant, relaxed environment.
Maureen studied Cello at the Royal College of Music, London, and the Chigiana in Sienna. She subsequently became a member of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the Scottish Baroque Ensemble.
All members of Stringers staff are proficient string players, and here to help and advise when required. Our fine strings department comprises instruments (violins, violas, cellos and double basses), bows and accessories for advanced students and professionals. All instruments are set up by our team of expert restorers and played by our staff before going on sale. Our spacious studios are available by appointment and instruments and bows may also be taken out on approval.
Our Educational & Student department caters for advancing string players of all ages. At Stringers, we recognise that buying a musical instrument can be a daunting experience. Most of our staff are former or current string teachers, or professional players, and can provide valuable assistance and support to students, parents and adult learners.
Both branches of Stringers have dedicated on site workshops offering a bow rehairing service and repairs for all levels of instrument. Both our London and Edinburgh shops stock a wide range of musical instrument accessories, including strings, rosin and cases, also available here in our online shop.
