Costs are as follows: Violin/Viola conversions: £6 for initial 3 months (£2 per month thereafter) Viola: £9 for initial 3 months (£3 per month thereafter) Cello: £12 for initial 3 months (£4 per month thereafter) Bass: £15 for initial 3 months (£5 per month thereafter) A hire agreement form and direct debit form are to be completed by the customer before the instrument can be taken away. Bank details (account number, sort code, branch address) will be required for the direct debit form. The direct debit will not be put into place until the end of the 3 month initial hire period. If a hire customer decides to purchase an instrument, the initial 3 month minimum hire charge will be deducted from the cost of a new instrument (exclusive of VAT). A hire instrument may be returned and exchanged for a larger size at any point during the term of hire, with no additional cost to the customer, providing that the instrument has not been damaged in any way Stringers staff are always on hand to help with any difficulties encountered during the period of hire (for example, changing strings and lubricating pegs)

Terms & Conditions

The terms and conditions of this agreement are as follows: - 1. The minimum hire term is 3 months and payment equivalent to 3 months rental is payable in advance. Thereafter, monthly payments to Stringers by direct debit must continue until the instrument is returned. 2. Customers must supply British bank account details for their direct debit before taking hire instruments off the premises. 3. The direct debit must not be cancelled prior to return of the instrument. If this occurs, or the monthly payments lapse, the customer is in breach of contract and the insurance cover is void. Account arrears must be paid immediately. 4. This is not a hire to buy scheme. If at any time during the period of hire the customer decides to purchase an instrument from Stringers, the initial 3 month rental fee will be deducted (minus VAT) from the purchase price. Monthly direct debit payments cover hire costs alone. 5. A hire instrument may be exchanged for a larger size at any time during the hire period at no extra cost to the customer, providing that the instrument has not been damaged in any way (see below). 6. If the customer decides to end the hire contract and their instrument is returned more than 5 working days after the expiration of the hire period that has been paid for, a penalty of an additional one month’s hire will be charged. 7. You may end this agreement at any time, by returning the instrument to Stringers of Edinburgh in good condition. Any damage will be charged (see below). The return of an instrument is the customer’s responsibility. 8. Your instrument is insured under Stringers stock policy with Allianz Musical Insurance for the hire period. This insurance is mandatory. 9. The hirer is responsible for reporting any loss or damage to the instrument and must notify Stringers immediately. The excess of £25 on Stringers policy will be payable by the hirer for any loss or damage to the instrument or bow. 10. Any necessary repairs, cleaning, maintenance and servicing during the period of hire, including bow rehairs, must be carried out only by Stringers, and paid for by the hirer where Stringers are unable to make a claim on their stock policy. 11. Stringers stock insurance policy with Allianz does not cover; · Breakage of consumable items such as strings or bow hair. Replacements must match the quality of the original item. · Theft by any person or persons to whom any insured items is entrusted or loaned · Loss or damage arising from atmospheric conditions such as extremes of temperature, eﬀects of sunlight, dampness, excess dryness. 12. It is the customer’s responsibility to inform Stringers of any change of postal and e-mail address and telephone number. 13. If the hirer defaults on any payment, or fails to comply with these terms and conditions, Stringers of Edinburgh may terminate this agreement by giving written notice. The instrument must be returned immediately.

The Direct Debit Guarantee

• This Guarantee is offered by all banks and building societies that accept instructions to pay Direct Debits. • If there are any changes to the amount, date or frequency of your Direct Debit, Stringers of Edinburgh Ltd. will notify you 10 working days in advance of your account being debited or as otherwise agreed. If you request Stringers of Edinburgh Ltd. to collect a payment, confirmation of the amount and date will be given to you at the time of the request. • If an error is made in the payment of your Direct Debit, by Stringers of Edinburgh Ltd. or your bank or building society, you are entitled to a full and immediate refund of the amount paid from your bank or building society. - If you receive a refund you are not entitled to, you must pay it back when Stringers of Edinburgh Ltd. asks you to. • You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by simply contacting your bank or building society. Written confirmation may be required. Please also notify us.
