Cello by Betts Workshop, London, c.1800
This cello is now sold
This fine cello is attributed to the workshop of Betts, probably by John Furber, who is credited with most of the instruments sold and labelled by Betts in this period. Furber was a considerable and versatile craftsman, as is evident in his copies of Stradivari and Amati.
This cello features a resonant sound with great responsiveness. It features deep red/brown varnish and is in good restored condition.
